INTERNAL COMBUSTION LABORATORY

OBJECTIVES

  • Learn to analyze a gas sample (typically fossil fuel flue gas) for its oxygen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide content.
  • To determine the indicated power and frictional loss advanced by a single cylinder.
  • To investigate the effectiveness of methods of fabrication of modified catalytic converter by approaching FeCrAl as a substrate which treated using ultrasonic bath technique to improve the exhaust emission control.
  • To get acquainted about engine performances between single point injection and multipoint fuel injection.

LIST OF EXPERIMENTS

  • Determination of calorific value of a fuel by Bomb calorimeter.
  • Flue gas analysis by ORSAT apparatus.
  • Study of valve timing diagram of Diesel Engine.
  • Performance Test of a muticylinder Petrol Engine by Morse method.
  • Performance Text of an I.C. Engine using electric (eddy current) dynamometer.
  • Use of catalylitic converters and its effect on flue gas of an I.C. Engine.
  • Study of MPFI (multipoint fuel injection system).
