Electrical Engineering Department of the Dream Institute of Technology was established in the year 2006 for imparting state-of-the-art engineering education to prepare aspiring electrical engineers. It took a pioneering role in establishing the undergraduate program in Electrical Engineering. This Department has been actively engaged in teaching and research in the field of Electrical Engineering.

The Department of Electrical Engineering College in Kolkata at Dream Institute of Technology has a team of experienced faculty members from esteemed institutions of our country to equip new age engineers with latest best practices. The academic team works like a team to inculcate the right mix of competencies among students.

With an initial intake of 60 students the Department of Electrical Engineering has grown steadily through research, innovation and dedication. The present intake for the B.Tech in Electrical Engineering programme is 120 students. The Department also offers a PG programme in Power Electronics with an intake of 18.

Students who graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering are well doing well both in the industry and academic fields in India and abroad. Students of Electrical Engineering Department have bagged university ranks on several occasions. The state-of-the-art laboratories help students to acquire experiential insights about the subject in the areas of Real-time Electrical Machine, Power System, Circuit Theory, and Power Electronics among many others to ensure students are able to excel in this field.

    • Soumi Guha, a 2014 pass-out student from this department ranked in the university topper list.
    • Poulami Gangopadhyay, a 2016 pass-out student from this department become the university topper.
    • One student project led by Subhashis Ghosh, a 2017 pass-out student of this department along with his project group participated in the Smart India Hackathon 2017 which bagged the second runner-up position and awarded INR 50,000.00 from Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
    • One student project leaded by Bratati Halder, a 2017 pass-out student of this department along with the other group members from this department, participated in the India Innovation Challenge Design Contest (IICDC), 2016 and become the winner to bag prize money of INR 150,000.00 and total funding of approximately INR 25,00000.00 for product and business development.
    • Three of student projects led by our current students of this department named Arup Das, Arkajit Roy, and Saikat Sahoo, along with their group participated and selected among the top project ideas in the SmartFifty,2017 contest and won benefits of INR 150,000.00
